Recycled materials, up-cycled into art.
Waves of Colour is an art exhibition of new works by Philip Needham at The Round Tower, Black Swan Arts, 2, Bridge Street, Frome, from
27 March – 8 April, 10am – 4pm.
Form and colour are the principal concepts of these largely abstract oil paintings, on themes inspired by geomorphology, environment, cosmology and physics.
Substrates use canvas, linen, cotton, wood and glass re-purposing and recycling materials to build complex “canvases” of low level relief. The formality of stretching, framing and the quadrangular form are rejected.
Paint is applied by brush, palette knife, sponge and rags.
