Garden Organic Compost Corner: Wormeries
“A Wormery uses Brandling worms to compost non-cooked kitchen scraps (but not onion, citrus or meat) within a container producing nutrient rich compost and ‘worm tea’ for your garden.
You can purchase a ready made kit, a terracotta pot wormery or make your own from three stacking boxes.
Once set up, layer damp paper/card with scraps. Fill the first layer, then fill the second. Harvest the compost from the first after the worms have migrated up. Repeat.
Remember worms need fairly stable temperature, moisture and air levels to thrive.”
